Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with former coach his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an better service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to force a final set.

He saved four early-game break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
